Latin Jazz at The Cardinal Bar
Few venues have made as much of an impact on the city of Madison as The Cardinal Bar. This entry in the US National Register of Historic Places was built as a railroad hotel, and transformed into a hub for Madison’s queer and Latine communities under the ownership of Cuban-American Madisonian Ricardo Gonzalez. Now steered by an collective of local owners, The Cardinal Bar still shines as a welcoming, inclusive, and incredibly fun bar and music venue. Join us for a special two-part event highlighting The Cardinal as both a jazz club with the Tony Castañeda Latin Jazz Band, and a dance hall with Rebulú.
Classical Masterpieces at The Overture Center
The Overture Center glitters in downtown Madison, WI, hosting orchestra, musical theater, opera, and many other fine art performances. Deep in the heart of this gem lies the Overture Concert Organ, a 174 ton behemoth commissioned by the Madison Symphony Orchestra and built into the main performance hall. Greg Zelek, Principal Organist of the Madison Symphony Orchestra, delivers masterful performances, and is joined by Mark Hetzler, Professor of Trombone at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
